FL Vacation

Luckily Irene didn't stop us from enjoying our vacation. Maw-maw and Paw-paw were kind enough to let us stay with them this week. We have really enjoyed spending time down here and just relaxing. Jason and I can get away in the evenings after the kids go to bed, which is wonderful!

crawling and crazy crab

Michael loved crawling on the lids of some containers I bought recently.
Malia got into a crawl walk position, but couldn't figure out the walking part.

The best part of waking up....

....is happy babies greeting you (not Folgers in your cup).

Goodbye Father Rod

Father Rod, the priest at our church, passed away suddenly. It was very sad, but I was able to dress up the kids and bring some smiles to sad faces.
I also snapped some pictures of the kids hanging out by the sliding glass door.

Fun at the Park (video)

Michael Falling Asleep at the Dinner Table

Fun at the Park

We are trying to get to the park more often, now that the weather has cooled down.
We started using this really neat backpack to carry a kid in when we go.
The kids love swinging. They weren't too excited about the slide.

8 Months Old!

I can't believe they are 8 months old!

Exploring!

Michael LOVES moving and exploring. He's started climbing whatever her can.
He discovered the dishwasher while we were cleaning the kitchen.
Malia is still rolling instead of crawling.
Michael found how to crawl out of his room.
And climb the railings outside his room.

Cupcake Mania

The kids had a blast at their buddy's birthday party. Jackson is the big 0-1 and the kids had a wonderful time at his party. They also enjoyed their first cupcake experience.
Malia was all about eating the yellow icing on her cupcake. Michael dug right into his orange cupcake. We ended up having an impromptu bath at Jackson's house after this.

Crawlers get into everything

Michael steals Malia's things now. She is trying to crawl, so she'll be able to get away soon.
Malia gets rescued sometimes from her brother's antics.
One day she rolled to and climbed up the jumper and started dancing. Watch out!
Michael gets into anything you leave in sight.
Even Chewy has to watch out!

Good Luck Aunt Natalie!

Aunt Natalie is taking her big test soon. To wish her luck, the kids decided to take a photo pretending to take a test. They were very successful, as I'm sure Aunt Natalie will be.

Good Luck Natalie! You will do great!

Good Morning!

Now that Michael is crawling and standing very well, we always wake up to the kids chit-chat. It means they wake up earlier, but they also wake up happy.

Starting finger foods!

We decided to try some finger foods today. The kids had graham crackers, diced ham, wagon wheels, and frozen green beans. Later in the evening they had buttered toast. I keep a close eye on them, but they seem to do really well.

Homemade Deodorant

I tried my hand at making deodorant and it was successful!

Book Fight

Michael and Malia have discovered their love for books. As a result we have book fights because they always want the book the other one is "reading".
The video is long, but it has a lot of fun moments in it.

COSI science museum

The kids ate their breakfast super fast and then we were off to COSI. Thing 1 and Thing 2 shirts courtesy of our friend Anna.
Michael loved learning about dinosaurs and playing with blocks.
Malia was able to tame a dino and take a ride.
Then we headed to the water zone and played for a bit.
The kids told dad all about the fun they had when he got home.

happy birthday aunt natalie!

"He's touching me!"
"Malia, your toy looks really cool."
"Leave it alone."
"Help, I've fallen and I can't get up."
"This toy is mine now."

Shout out to Aunt Natalie on her bday!

Lots O' Toys

When I was little we used to say "I'm bored!" a lot even though there was so much fun stuff we could be doing. When I saw this picture, it made me think of those days.

Video is long, but the kids are so cute in it!
Michael is starting to get into the crawling position and Malia is making her crazy face.

First Summer!

Our baby pool has too many holes to repair it, so we had indoor fun this first day of summer.

Happy Father's Day

Taking a picture using the timer on the camera is a little difficult. This was the best of the three photos taken.

We busted out the jogging stroller and the kids love it. They both get a good view and they can reach each other which they love.
These are adorable onesies we borrowed from a friend with twins.

We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo.....

We took our first zoo trip recently and boy was it fun!
Malia enjoyed pretending to drive while Michael ate.

Penguins
Lunch!
Fish!
I returned later to go it alone and I ran into a buddy who sent me this picture.
So glad the zoo is near home, and how wonderful to have a pass.

6 month stats

No picture to go with this post - sorry. I know posts without pictures are no fun.

Anyway, here are the stats from our 6 month checkup.

Malia:
11.47 pounds
24.25 inches tall

Michael:
11.97 pounds
24.5 inches tall

Both kids are in the 0 %tile for weight. Michael is in the 2nd %tile and Malia the 8th %tile for height. We go back in 6 weeks for a checkup to make sure they are gaining weight. The doctor said their development is right on, but their weight is low. As long as they keep increasing then we do not need to worry. (I'm trying to not worry.)

In order to encourage packing on the pounds, I received some advice from a friend who also has a small baby. We will be upping feedings to every two hours and changing the solids to more calorie dense solids such as avocados and greek yogurt. I've never fed them yogurt before, so we'll see how that goes.

Other than the weight, everything went really well at the appointment. More shots, but the kids did great. A little cranky the following day, but what do you expect?
